一、腊八节由来英语介绍Laba is celebrated on the eighth day of the last lunar month, referring to the traditional start of celebrations for the Chinese New Year. La in Chinese means the 12th lunar month and ba means eight.
腊八在阴历最后一个月庆祝，标志者中国新年庆祝的开始。 腊 在汉语中意味着阴历第十二个月，“八”意思是8.
Legends about the originof this festivity abound. One holds that over 3,000 years ago sacrificial rites called La (腊) were held in the twelfth lunar month when people offered their preys to the gods of heaven and earth. The Chinese characters for prey (猎物) and the twelfth month (腊) were interchangeable then, and ever since La has been used to refer to both.

Laba rice porridge contains glutinous rice, red beans, millet, Chinese sorghum, peas, dried lotus seeds, and some other ingredients, such as dried dates, chestnut meat, walnut meat, almond, peanut, etc.

Another custom is the soaking of Laba garlic. Garlic is soaked in vinegar for more than twenty days starting from Laba festival. Then when the Chinese New Year comes, the garlic and vinegar is used alongside jiaozi on the table.
腊八节的另一传统式腌制腊八蒜。从腊八节那天起，就将蒜泡在醋中二十多天，这样，到春节的时候，就可以在餐桌上与饺子同食了。
2.腊八冰（Laba ice）
Northerners have a custom of leaving a basin of water outside the house to be frozen; they break this ice into pieces and eat it on Laba Day.
北方人有一个习俗，他们在房子外面放一盆水等水冻成冰，在腊八节那天把冰捣碎并把它吃掉。
The ice on this day is said to possess supernatural power, capable of keeping those who eat it free from stomachache for a whole year.
